Lodge at Torrey Pines Wedding: Inside Gabi and William’s Summer Celebration

A Lodge at Torrey Pines wedding in butter yellow, sage and grapefruit, designed for Gabi and William in August.

In this post you will find how we planned and designed Gabi and William’s wedding in La Jolla.

Gabi and William married on August 21, 2026, at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. The Lodge sits on the bluffs above the Pacific, right beside the golf course. Because the day moved through several settings, our team arrived early that morning. By late afternoon, the lawn, the cocktail hour and the ballroom were ready for the evening.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place on the lawn, set directly on the golf course with open views toward the ocean. The lawn is a generous, level space. It works beautifully for both ceremony and reception. Indeed, couples can flip it entirely. The same space holds the ceremony and then resets for dinner under the sky. Gabi and William chose to move inside to the ballroom for the reception. The option to stay outdoors is one of the things that makes this venue genuinely flexible.

Mai Floral Design built tall arrangements on white pedestals, with poppies, ranunculus and dahlias in the full palette. Because the setting is so open, the florals needed height and volume to frame the couple as Gabi walked toward William. That visual frame worked alongside the music. Gabi chose Clair de Lune for the processional, and we timed her walk so that the last notes and her arrival ended together. It is one of those small details that guests feel without quite knowing why.

Cocktail Hour Details for the Guests

After the ceremony, guests moved to cocktail hour on the lawn. The lawn transitions naturally from ceremony into cocktail hour, which is one of its strengths. Golden striped umbrellas and lounge seating gave guests shade and a place to gather. In addition, a striped guest book waited on a table dressed in sage linen. Claudia Strenger Calligraphy lettered the welcome sign and the seating chart. These are small details; however, guests notice them. Moreover, they show how far one palette can travel when we plan it from the start.

The Maurice Braun Ballroom After Dark

Dinner took place in the Maurice Braun Ballroom, named for the early San Diego painter Maurice Braun. The ballroom has warm wood walls with brown tonal details that give it a classic lodge character. Because we wanted the room to feel brighter for a summer evening, we draped it in white. The draping lifted the room entirely. It softened the walls and made the tablescapes read as luminous rather than heavy. As a result, the space felt both refined and celebratory.

Each round table had a textured ivory linen, rattan chairs and crystal glassware. Low centerpieces of poppies, garden roses and ranunculus kept the view across each table open. Meanwhile, pennant table numbers in sage were a quiet nod to the golf course outside. Indeed, the room reflected our approach to black tie wedding design: formal in structure, warm in feeling.

The Adjacent Patio

Connected to the ballroom, the adjacent patio is a natural extension of the reception space. Guests often want a moment of air during a long dinner. A well-styled patio gives them somewhere to step outside without leaving the event. For Gabi and William, we set it as a lounge area with seating that invited guests to slow down and talk. It also works well for a late-night bar or a dessert station, depending on the flow of the evening.

Custom Stationery for a Lodge at Torrey Pines Wedding

The stationery tied the whole evening together. The custom menus came in a yellow and white stripe, with monogrammed cards in deep green. For example, the table numbers repeated the same sage and the same clean lettering. At the end of the night, guests took home striped matchbooks from a gold glass bowl. Because every printed piece came from one design, the room read as a single story. That continuity is what we look for in every wedding we design.

A Note on the Service

One of the things I always tell couples considering The Lodge is that the service on the day is excellent. The banquet team is experienced with weddings and understands the rhythm of a long event. Consequently, transitions between the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner moved smoothly. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, which is exactly the standard we hold for every team we work alongside. For couples who want a venue where the hospitality matches the setting, The Lodge delivers on both.

What Couples Should Know About the Lodge

The Lodge is a hotel, so guests can stay on site and walk to every part of the wedding. Because of this, we reserve a room block early and plan the welcome and farewell moments around it. The Torrey Pines Golf Course next door also hosts major tournaments, such as the annual PGA Tour event in winter. For this reason, we check the tournament calendar before a couple holds a date. Coastal weather matters too. For instance, a marine layer can cover the bluffs in the morning and lift in the afternoon. Consequently, we set the ceremony time with the light in mind.
